About Member

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) is a 75-year old non-profit organisation (NPO) dedicated to fighting cancer and saving lives.

CANSA is the only non-government organisation with the sole purpose of fighting cancer and managing its consequences. CANSA’s mission is to substantially reduce the impact of cancer by promoting health in all communities within South Africa, through advocacy and the sustainable facilitation of research, prevention, early detection and care.

CANSA runs education programmes; promotes healthy living and early detection; funds ongoing research programmes; offers community-based services, including the facilitation of patient care; operates a toll-free Information Service; provides counselling; and runs day care centres for local patients and interim homes for out-of-town cancer patients receiving treatment in the main metropolitan areas.
