Person-centred care - review on ways to measure

Written by Vicki Pinkney-Atkinson.

Patient-centred care is what most patients want. Often we can't really articulate it or the health system doesnt allow it.

The Health Foundation, a UK NGO, has just published a rapid review on ways to measusre patient-centred care.

I highlight research about commonly used approaches and tools to help measure person-centred care. It aims to showcase the many tools available for those working in policy and practice.

If you are wondering about the terminology here.... then this definition will help.

"A person-centred health system is one that supports people to make informed decisions about, and to successfully manage, their own health and care, able to make informed decisions and choose when to invite others to act on their behalf. This requires healthcare services to work in partnership to deliver care responsive to people’s individual abilities, preferences, lifestyles and goals."
